With the NFL season kicking off on Thursday night, it bears remembering that Rock Island was the location of the first ever NFL game, between the Rock Island Independents and the St. Paul Ideals. I've written before about Rock Island's pedigree as a founding member of the National Football League.

To mark our football heritage, Quad City Vintage Football will stage their Annual 1920's Vintage Football Game on October 14th at Douglas Park. The game will be played with 1920's equipment and rules.

Admission is free. Food will be available from Bent River Brewing and Rock Island Parks. Pregame is at 1:30pm, with kickoff at 2pm.
