The newest Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association poll was released this week and the top-ranked team in Class 3A is Davenport Assumption.

Assumption stands at 23-3 as of this post, and leads the state in wins. The Knights also lead the Class 3A rankings with 190 team RBIs, 250 team hits and 74 doubles.

They're fourth in 3A with a .347 team batting average.

The Knights have won 15 straight games with their last loss coming to Dubuque Senior on June 8.

Junior Trenton Wallace is second in all of Class 3A with 39 RBIs and is hitting .449. He also has 12 doubles, which is second in 3A.

Assumption senior Connor Lindaman is hitting .419 with 32 RBIs.

From a pitching standpoint, Wallace is 4-0 in five starts, and has not allowed an earned run in his 30 innings of work. Sophomore Daniel Powers has so far allowed six earned runs in 26 innings pitched.

Assumption will have another once-ranked team in its district playoff pod — Central DeWitt. The Sabers have been ranked as highly as fifth this season, and have Missouri recruit T.J. Sikkema as its ace.

The other two teams in Class 3A-District 8 is Maquoketa and Cedar Rapids Xavier.
