Baseball was a big part of my life growing up. We played pick up games at the park. We played wiffle ball it in my back yard. I even played for the West Side Base Ball Yankees and Red Sox. I can't imagine what my life would be like without those experiences. When I heard the Davenport & Iowa Rotary Clubs want to build a Miracle Field to help kids with physical, mental or developmental disabilities experience the same joy of baseball I did, I couldn't keep it to myself.

Rotary has been instrumental in establishing Challenger Little Leagues to provide these experiences. They've found, however, that traditional baseball or little league fields aren't great places for Challenger Little Leagues to play. They're just not built for wheel chairs and walkers and simply aren't the safest environment for Challenger Little Leagues to play ball.

That's why the Davenport & Iowa Quad Cities Rotary Clubs are building the Quad Cities our own Miracle Field. You can support this cause by attending Miracle Field Family Fest on Saturday August 25 from 3-6PM CT. It's a picnic lunch that includes pulled pork, hamburgers, hot dogs sides and more. In addition they'll plenty of activities including live music, games, a raffle and a silent auction.

Family Fest tickets are $20 for one person. $50 per couple. $100 per family. The $100 family ticket includes a chance to win $10,000! They're also accepting donations, and if you are a business owner you can also sponsor the event. Tickets and information for the fest is available here.
