DES MOINES — Davenport Assumption and North Scott will represent the Mississippi Athletic Conference today at the Iowa girls basketball state tournament.

The Knights will play first at 3:15 this afternoon in a Class 3A state quarterfinal against Center Point-Urbana. Assumption is the No. 8 seed against the Stormin' Pointers.

Jasmine Harris is the Knights' leading scorer with 16.1 points a game while Bailey Brown scores 14.3 points a game. As a team, Assumption makes 42 percent of its shots.

The Knights are on an eight-game winning streak that includes Bailey Brown hitting a buzzer-beater to knock out Camanche in the regional semifinals.

In the regional final, Assumption knocked out Union 59-49.

CP-U is riding a seven-game winning streak with its last loss coming Jan. 27 against Marion.

Allison Wooldridge is the Stormin' Pointers' leading scorer is 12.7 points a game.

In the second game involving MAC schools, the Lancers will play in a Class 4A quarterfinal against Nevada at 6:45 p.m.

The Lancers have beaten Clinton and Western Dubuque in the playoffs to get to the state tournament.

Karli Rucker has led the Lancers this season in scoring with 13.1 points a game. Rucker has made 87 percent of her free throws.

Nevada hasn't lost since dropping its season-opener against Boone in November.
