This is a guest blog written by Townsquare Media's Michael Weindruch. Michael is one of Townsquare Quad Cities biggest sports fans and is sharing some of his experiences with us from this year's John Deere Classic.

For almost a week our local media, from news to weather to sports reporters make the TPC at Deere Run their home.  With tee times as early as 6:45AM on Wednesday thru Friday, and  weather delays from the torrential rains, many don't leave the course till almost 9PM.

And we can't get enough.

A huge shout out to all of the journalists, photogs and interns.  To list them all would be fruitless and I think you know who your favorites are.

From interviews with the leaders, to golfers with local ties and even those super important volunteers, each team shares behind the scenes action of what makes our little tournament so great.

The family environment tops the list for our biggest sports show, followed by the successful Birdies For Charity program. There's nothing in the Quad Cities that comes close to the status of what we're privileged to be a part of.  And the direct flight from Moline to The Open is icing on our cake.

Those behind the scenes also include Tournament Director Clair Peterson and Grounds Superintendent Alex Stuedemann along with Director of Media Relations Barry Cronin.  And yes, Barry IS related to Kevin.

So as we wait till the 2019 Classic, let's congratulate another 1st time winner, Michael Kim, on his record-breaking performance and look forward to another exciting tournament next July 8th.
