Rock Island’s Chasson Randle signed by the New York Knicks

Chasson Randle didn't sit on waivers for very long after being released by the Philadelphia 76ers last Thursday. The former Rock Island high school player was snapped up by Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks on Monday.

The Knicks released veteran guard Brandon Jennings to make room for Randle, who spent the pre-season with the Knicks. He seemed sure to gain a spot on the Knicks roster during training camp before he broke an orbital bone that sidelined him. After averaging 20 points with the Knicks D-League team, Randle was released.

On January 10, Randle began two 10-day stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, before being signed to a partially guaranteed deal. He was waived by the 76ers last week to make roster space after trading forward Nerlens Noel to Dallas.

Randle averaged 5.3 points and 9.3 minutes in eight games with Philadelphia.

He was on the roster, but did not play in the Knicks 92-91 loss to Toronto on Monday night.

Here's hoping this Rock Island native gets a chance to shine in the Big Apple.
