We've long been told that we get red eyes at the swimming pool because of the chlorine in the water.

Seems like a valid reason, right?

According to the CDC, that's not COMPLETELY true.

Evidently, chlorine itself can't cause burning in your eyes.

The REAL reason your eyes turn red in the pool is because of URINE!

Well, urine mixing with chlorine.

Still...gross!

They say sweat can make the burning even more intense so swimmers are advised to shower and use the restroom before getting in the pool to avoid the "mix of irritants".
