#KABLOOM Hy-Vee $10 dozen roses help to donate bikes

Who doesn't know someone who loves flowers? Daily we can find something on social media to complain about: politics, weather, traffic, etc. but here is something positive we can all get love and post on social media.  So get out there and pay it forward to someone.

Hy-Vee, Inc., in partnership with Variety – the Children’s Charity, a national charitable organization that improves the lives of children in need, announced today that its Petals for Pedals fundraising event will take place from July 17-30 across more than 250 Hy-Vee stores.

Hy-Vees in the Quad Cities will sell one dozen roses for ten dollars. A portion of proceeds from each bouquet sold will help provide bikes to children who experience various life challenges. These children may be underprivileged, at-risk, critically ill or live with special needs.

The Quad Cities River Bandits GM Jacqueline Holm received her #KABLOOM down at Modern Woodman Park. The hardest working GM in minor league baseball was surprised by a local Hy-Vee with 324 roses! How great is that!

“Bikes are such a practical gift for the types of children supported through our program,” said Sheri McMichael, Executive Director for Variety. “These bikes will provide joy and entertainment through difficult times, and improve mobility and well being as well as foster healthy recreational hobbies. The benefits are truly endless.” said McMichael.

Customers can join Hy-Vee in its mission to raise awareness about this fundraiser through the company’s #Kabloom social media campaign. During Hy-Vee’s July 17-30 Petals for Pedals event, customers are encouraged to surprise another individual or organization with one dozen or more roses, capture the experience on video and post it on social media. Tag Hy-Vee and include #Kabloom with the post to encourage others to pay the effort of kindness forward.

Here is how you can join the Hy-Vee mission to #KABLOOM deserving individuals and organizations with a room full of roses in support of Hy-Vee's Petals for Pedals to benefit Variety, the Children's Charity.

1. PURCHASE a few dozen roses for only $10 per dozen at your local Hy-Vee or online hy-vee.com
2. CHOOSE a deserving individual or organization to #KABLOOM and prepare to surprise them with a room full of roses
3. TAKE a picture or video of the surprise
4. UPLOAD to Facebook, instagram, Twitter, YouTube and/or Snapchat using #KABLOOM
