A apple a day keeps the doctor away. I love apples. Maybe that's why I don't get sick very often?

According to KQWC, October is National Apple Month. There are tons of different types of apples. I like plain Red-Delicious apples...with a big scoop of crunchy peanut butter! There are also a few apple orchards in the Quad Cities to get fresh apples...Stones Apple Barn.

What is there not to love about apples. The average apple is about 90 calories and about 85% water, so they really are the perfect snack and keep best in a plastic bag at around 32 degrees. It's ok to leave them on the counter in your fruit bowl, but they will last up to 10 times longer in the fridge.

Apple fun facts:

3 medium sized apples equal approximately 1 pound
Pared and sliced, 1 pound apples yields 2 3/4 cups
A peck of apples weighs 10.5 pounds
A bushel of apples weighs 42 pounds
A bushel of apples will yield 15 – 20 quarts of applesauce

Enjoy a delicious apple pie, apple cider, apple beer, apple juice, caramel apples (from our friends at Lagomarcinos), pork chops and applesauce.......
