On March 8th and March 9th at Paradigm, 320 E. 2nd St in Davenport, will host the St. Ambrose High School Esports Championships.  This League of Legends tournament will consist of 8 high school teams of 5 players to compete for $12,500 in scholarship s as well as a set of Respawn Products gaming chairs.

“Partnering with St. Ambrose to create this opportunity for high schools has been a match made in heaven. This championship is going to be the largest esports scholarship tournament Iowa has ever seen,” said Steve Grubbs, CEO of Paradigm.

League of Legends is a third person multi player online battle arena game.  Players compete in matches, lasting anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes on average. In each game mode, teams work together to achieve a victory condition.

Andrew Lister, Coach of the Orion Chargers said, “Our esports group averages around 10% of our school’s total population, has offered many students an opportunity to feel connected to our community. Esports has helped these students build their confidence, practice important communication and leadership skills, and find ways to navigate and overcome hardships.”
